Diva de Kumbia Disappearing Trick Part I
She’s from the heart of Texas and an uprising female vocalist: Sonia Bass (a.k.a. Diva de Kumbia) . Such a beautiful and stylish young star who brought the audience to their feet with her unique beats and rhythms including cumbia, mariachi, hip-hop, vallenato, ranchera, and salsa; she sang it all. Her latest CD, entitled “Dimelo Mi Amor,” was supposed to be hit the store shelves. Did it ever make it ? I sure don’t know. Which brings me to ask: where is she?
I was going through my MySpace friends the other day and decided I wanted to go by her page and you know, show some love (lol). She was nowhere to be found. Even some of her band members were gone. The band members I did find, well, they haven’t been online since 2006. I went on to check the Diva de Kumbia official website and it shows some crap that usually shows up on sites that have been shutdown/canceled. The last time I had gone on her site it was under construction. Now, it has vanished into thin air (err…cyberspace). Ray Talamantez, ex-saxaphone player for La Sombra, was her producer (can’t find his site either).
I just don’t know what to say. She gave so much to the youth and communities of Austin and its sad that now she is nowhere to be located. Did she die? Is she serving time in prison? Is the Diva touring in space or something? I want some answers and I demand them!

I have heard that she hooked up Medalla (sp?) out of Austin. I can’t confirm that but its a good place to start the search… its funny cuz this is the 3rd time im posting this in a month… others are on the hunt as well…..
